Tips on communication

Tips on communication:

  • Send non-denominational cards to your entire contact list. Don't send the cheesy calendars with your name on them.
  • It's a great idea to schedule no work at all from about December 15 through January 15. If that's too intimidating, then at least no travel and on-site work.
  • However, do return all your phone messages promptly.
  • You can do things such as change your postage meter impression, voice mail, newsletters, etc. to reflect Holiday greetings.
  • If you're planning to eat and drink heavily-often unavoidable to promote family camaraderie or to enable you to withstand family camaraderie-then increase you workout schedule (or begin one).
  • Mid-January is a great time to launch new products, services, and initiatives. It's also a good time to send a mailing to your list informing everyone of your scheduled activities for the coming year.
  • If you really want to give a client a gift, and it's ethically acceptable to the client, consider a book. With Peter Drucker's recent demise, a set of his books would be highly appropriate for virtually any business person.
  • Make a single resolution about your personal life and your business, and keep it.
  • Plan to retire at least 50% of current indebtedness over the next year without incurring any new debt.
  • By all means, look back and reflect on the positives that you've accomplished over the past year. Build further on those, and establish one solid developmental opportunity for yourself, no matter how much the investment of time and/or money. If not now, when?
