The thought leadership of Rebecca A. Morgan, President of Fulcrum ConsultingWorks Inc., is expressed through consulting, writing, and speaking — the Johnny Appleseed of manufacturing operations strategy. Fortune Brands, Avery Dennison, VitaMix and Hunter Defense Technologies are just a few of the many companies that have turned to the thinking and expertise of Morgan over the past 26 years. Before founding her consulting business in 1990 Morgan served in leadership at Perdue Farms, Cleveland Trust, Stouffer Foods, TRW and Precision CastParts.

And she worked her way through college, but those jobs are painful to think about!

She not only helps others do it; she’s done it herself:

She has been directly responsible for cost and revenue centers in single and multi-plant situations. As a member of the management team Morgan led and coordinated operations support to Stouffer Foods’ introduction of the wildly successful Lean Cuisine brand (demand exceeded forecast by an order of magnitude) while contributing to product and distribution rationalization associated with construction of a second plant.

Following that Becky helped prepare TRW’s then $300MM Casting Division for sale, subsequently playing a key leadership role for Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC) in the turnaround of that acquisition.

Before Stouffers, as bank economist for Cleveland Trust (since acquired by Key Bank), she stood with an exceptionally small group who forecast the 20% prime interest rate that few thought could happen, but soon did.

Fresh out of graduate school Morgan was recruited by Perdue Farms to lead development and implementation of decision support processes and accounting systems. During that same time she was an adjunct assistant professor of Economics at Salisbury State University. That last one means she can read almost any handwriting.

She’s not only done it herself, she’s helped others do it.

Following those successes, in 1990 Becky founded her manufacturing operations consulting business. She has delivered targeted outcomes, and then some, with both privately-held firms and public corporations. Her clients include recognizable names like Avery-Dennison, VitaMix and Moen, in addition to numerous lesser-known companies like HDT, Zircoa, and Kinetico. Morgan has delivered over $500MM to the bottom line of manufacturers during her career.

She has credentials.

Ms. Morgan has BA and MS degrees in Economics and completed post-graduate work in Business Administration. She is Board Approved in Operations Management by the Society for Advancement of Consulting, is certified as a Fellow by The Association for Operations Management (APICS) and was awarded Lifetime member status of the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME).

.She actively contributes to the body of knowledge.

Her book Start Smart, Finish Strong: Forging Your Path to Operational Excellence and Long-Term Success in the Manufacturing World is available through and iBooks; her e-book Strategic Profits is available through her website.

Contributing generously of her time to professional organizations, Morgan has chaired and served on several national APICS courseware and certification committees. She served on the regional and national boards of directors of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and chaired the Cleveland OH based Entrepreneurs Association.

She supports media efforts to inform the audience about operational issues.

She is a contributing Xpert to the IndustryWeek IdeaXchange, writes a monthly column as the Manufacturing Operations Expert for AME’s Target and for the 40+ markets served by the American City Business Journals. Highly respected business journal INC Magazine also selected Morgan as its Operations Expert, a role she filled for several years.  In addition, her expertise is frequently tapped by other national and industry publications, including Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Business Week, and Dow-Jones Newswires, as well as by radio programs.
